Old Town La Quinta hosted a weekend-long extravaganza in honor of summer's first holiday weekend.

Old Town La Quinta's Memorial Day Weekend celebrations kicked off Friday with a Memorial Day Sidewalk Sale to help boost the local economy, while Saturday and Sunday bands: "Help!" A Beatles tribute band, and The Pills rocked the night away.

More than 250 people attended each concert, which was just a taste of the season's Concert on the Lawn series, said Leslie Locken, Old Town La Quinta's property manager.

“We look forward to bringing the band Help! back to Old Town because everyone had a great time grooving to the music of The Beatles,” Locken said. “And Dr. (Peter) Kadile's band, The Pills, is a favorite of many who frequent Old Town. Every time he plays, it is a great family event. So they of course will also be back to perform at Old Town.”

On Monday, the local husband and wife duo, Shirley and Sergio Evaro, wrapped up the weekend festivities.
