View Diane McClary’s impressionist oil paintings at Art on Main Street’s Old Town Gallery – now open Wednesdays through Sundays! Diane’s interest, years ago, in learning Russian Impressionist oil painting brought her to Ron Lukas, a protégé of the late Sergei Bongart.
Diane spent years under the study of both these masters from the Northwest. She found her passion in learning how to use strong color and light in forms and landscapes. After many years of painting outdoors in the Pacific Northwest, Diane and her husband migrated south to the Coachella Valley. She now calls Palm Desert home finding the local, desert landscape a rich subject.
Diane says, “Capturing the beauty of the desert’s changing light is a challenge that gives me pride in using my honed skills.” Plein air painting is a favorite of hers where, most usually, she will do multiple, quick sketches of a landscape before committing to the final painting.
Art on Main Street has shows scheduled for March 13th, 27th and April 10th pending COVID-19 conditions. February shows were cancelled during the last stay-at home-order. The artists showing at the Gallery appreciate your support.
