Featured Artist: Kathy Caldwell, Jewelry Designer

Known for her exquisite, hand-forged sterling silver and 14-k gold jewelry, Kathy Caldwell’s designs are inspired by the natural curves and rich colors of the desert mountains that surround her home. Her unique pieces make treasured holiday gifts.

Caldwell was named the 2010 Distinguished artist of La Quinta. She received her early art and design training from The University of California at Berkeley’s Fine Art Department and the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. She first started making jewelry over 35 years ago in a small studio in Chicago. Her craftsmanship began attracting the attention of local galleries and jewelry stores all over the city.

After many years of perfecting her work in her Chicago studio, Kathy moved to California. She served as a Vice President and head merchandiser for a series of high-end jewelry stores in San Diego, with a specialty in precious and semi-precious stones. Her outstanding ability to pick high-quality semi-precious stones and vintage necklaces to complement her gold and silver designs is a signature for her work today. A La Quinta resident since 2004, Kathy and has been thrilled to be part of the Art on Main Street series and the prestigious La Quinta Arts Festival.
