Meet Chef Eric Stenberg at Landmark and enjoy his casual, new menu featuring an outdoor grill, a full bar with premium liquors, wine and beer, and live music on weekends in season.
Chef Eric and his wife Laurie are opening Landmark after 20 years in Montana where they ran their own restaurant, Savory Olive. Dedicated to supporting local farmers’, Savory Olive was Montana’s first farm-to-table restaurant. Laurie grew up in the desert and she and Eric have returned to bring their commitment to local farmers, cooking, and quality food home to La Quinta.
Eric began his culinary career in Portland cooking for Chef Greg Higgins at the Heathman Hotel. He joined Higgins in his ground-breaking efforts to promote sustainable fishing and farming practices. Eric then went to Alsace, France to work for three-star Chef Josef Matter at the Hotel Les Voges, focusing on the art of Charcuterie.
Food and Wine Magazine (November 2004) ran a feature on Eric, the “Story of a Steak”, that explored the relationship between Chefs and Farmers. Eric served as Board Chairman of the Chefs’ Collaborative, a non-profit organization comprised of Chefs, Producers and Foodies who wanted to see a better food system. Between 2012-2014, Eric achieved recognition as the Montana Chef of the Year while renovating the Billings Hotel and developing a fine-dining farm-to-table restaurant concept.
Always a family man, Eric, his wife Laurie and sister Karen Derhalli then decided that it was time to get back to a family-run business and founded Free Range Kitchen, a personal chef/catering company based in Montana and Lake Tahoe. Join us in welcoming Eric and Laurie to Old Town!
