“The technique I use to create jewelry is traditional. It is the same technique that has been used for centuries. The difference is that in every piece I create, I invest the time and patience to create a masterpiece. I wait for the right time…when I’m filled with energy and a good mood…I feel a great connection toward every piece that I make. This work truly comes from inside of me.”
Victor Yurivilca was born in a small town about 13,000 feet above sea level in the Andes of Peru called San Pedro de Cajos. At an early age, he moved to Lima in order to achieve a better education. After attending a civil engineering university for 3 years, he left to chase his passions. More interested in knowing the various places and cultures of different countries, he explored Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama, Aruba, the Galapagos Islands, Chile, France and his own country, Peru, from north to south and east to west. For almost five years, he absorbed and enjoyed everydetail in these wondrous places.
Due to constant war and turmoil in his hometown in the Andes, Yurivilca came to the U.S. and discovered his passion to create original, unique and exclusive jewelry. He developed an art form that allows him to apply all of his accumulated knowledge and experience; where he mixes his native Peruvian culture with the many cultures he’s been a part of around the world.
“When I start the process of creation, I have no concrete idea of how it will look, only a general idea. I follow my instincts. I love the notion that what I do is essentially CREATING SOMETHING FROM NOTHING. I enjoy what I do and I like sharing it with the world.” – Victor Yurivilca
