Featured Artist: Nichole Vikdal, Ceramic Artist

At Art on Main Street, we are proud to showcase artists whose work reflects exceptional skill, creativity, and dedication to their craft. This month, we are excited to feature ceramic artist Nichole Vikdal, whose luminous porcelain pieces are as technically impressive as they are visually striking.

Nichole specializes in crystalline glazed porcelain, one of the most challenging and time‑intensive techniques in ceramics. Only a small number of artists work successfully in this medium due to the precise chemistry, controlled kiln schedules, and high risk involved in every firing.

Each piece begins on the potter’s wheel, where Nichole hand‑throws fine porcelain clay into elegant, balanced forms. She then applies glazes that she formulates herself from raw materials—carefully calculating mineral content, temperature, and firing duration to encourage the growth of crystal structures within the surface of the glaze.

The result is a body of work defined by intricate patterns, rich depth, and shimmering color—no two pieces ever the same.  We invite you to experience her work in person at Art on Main Street, where her latest pieces are currently on display.
