Meet Robert Weil and explore a wide variety of his extraordinary mixed media work at Art on Main Street, November 10th & 24th from 10 am to 4 pm.
Weil says, “ I’m an image junkie. I paint from old photographs, original drawings, stills from house movies, video grabs and digital photography.
Some of these images are scanned into my computer and graphically altered. I paint the final image on wood or canvas using acrylic paint. I often use airbrush, painting freehand without the use of meshing materials. This creates a soft, feather-edged effect. Traditional paint application including brush, pastels, charcoal, enamel and pencil are also used.”
Collectors of Weil’s work include Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross, Ray Liotta, Alicia Silverstone, Jerry Seinfeld, Sally Kirkland and the late Frank Sinatra to name a few.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Weil has lived in New Orleans, Portland, San Francisco and L.A. He currently resides and creates art in Malibu, California.
