We have two great self-guided bike tours to recommend to you:
The Bear Creek Trail Ride: Riders can leave Old Town La Quinta and hit the trail head quickly – just 500 yards away! This trail is maintained by the City of La Quinta and chases the majestic Santa Rosa mountains with unobstructed views. There are no cars for the first 3.5 miles and it’s a walking and biking trail only. This path has great elevation from bottom to top. Pedego electric bikes are always nice to have once you get tired—they’ll do the work for you! The Bear Creek Trail is a 7-mile, 1-hour bike ride that starts and ends in Old Town La Quinta. Or take your time and make this an all-day ride with leisurely scenic stops along the way.
The Lake Cahuilla Ride: This 18-mile ride takes just under 2 hours on a Pedego electric bike and there’s an easy, meandering sidewalk the entire way. There is very minimal car traffic on this route as there are only residential communities and few businesses. Once at the lake, you have the option to swim in a pool or the lake and there is even a park for the kids. Many riders pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery. The lake is tucked against the mountains and offers amazing desert views.
Electric vs. Standard Bikes: Electric bikes are just like regular bikes but more fun! You never have to worry about being the rider everyone has to wait for in a group. They are the great equalizer because they do so much of the work for you and still provide exercise. Electric bikes make hills easy and support endurance. You don’t even have to pedal if you don’t want to, so you don’t have to overdo it—even if you want to enjoy a full day outdoors.
