Rosés are especially popular in spring and summer and they are versatile enough to enjoy with seafood, salads and heartier fare at picnics and barbecues. Although rosés are produced around the world, we recommend our affordable, South of France favorite Chateau de la Clapière Cru Classe from Provence.
It is grown on the grounds of Chateau de la Clapière which was built in the 18th century on a Roman and then Templar wine estate. An exceptional microclimate in this area brings a floral side to its rosés giving the wine very aromatic nose with a beautiful note of freshness.
Chateau de la Clapière is one of only 18 illustrious Cru Classe (classified growth) estates that are internationally recognized as producers of some of the region’s best estates rosés. The wine is 40% cinsault, 40% Grenache and 20% syrah. It’s pleasant, fruity and enjoyable with a long meal or by itself.
Try a glass of Chateau de la Clapière at The Wine Emporium on Main Street or buy a bottle to take home from the retail room behind the bar. For more information call 760-565- 5512.
